ThePhotoStick Omni: My Verdict USD 59.99
Product Name: ThePhotoStick Omni
Product Description: A guided local photo and video backup device. Compatibility depends on the exact model, device and software, and important files still need another independent copy.
✍️ My Hands-On Experience with ThePhotoStick Omni
My verdict: I recommend ThePhotoStick Omni when guided photo backup suits you better than manually organising files. Choose the exact version for your device and keep a second independent copy of important media.

Cons
- Compatibility depends on the exact model, operating system and connector
- storage can fill quickly with video
- one drive is not a complete backup strategy.
ThePhotoStick Omni is worth considering if you want a guided way to copy photos and videos to a physical drive and find manual file selection frustrating. It is less compelling if you already manage external-drive backups comfortably. It should be one copy in your backup system, not the only place you keep irreplaceable files.
I have personally used and tested ThePhotoStick Omni. My buying judgement is that its value lies in the backup workflow, not in making USB storage failure-proof. The software and device need to suit your particular phone or computer, and a completed backup should still be checked.
This review concerns the Omni family and identifies current manufacturer requirements separately from my hands-on use. Do not assume that an older Omni, Omni Classic and newer Omni X are identical hardware, or that my experience establishes measured performance for every version.

What you are paying for
A conventional USB drive stores files. ThePhotoStick pairs storage with a workflow designed to find and copy supported files. That can be useful if you do not know which folders to select, but it does not mean the drive can access everything regardless of permissions, recover deleted data or save an unlimited library.
| Option | Main attraction | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|
| ThePhotoStick Omni | Guided file backup to local storage | App, device and file compatibility still need checking |
| Ordinary USB drive or external SSD | Flexible storage with a workflow you control | You must choose and verify files yourself or configure backup software |
| Cloud backup service | A copy away from your home, with service-specific automation | Account, connection, storage limits and fees depend on the service |
I would not rank one as universally safer. A local drive can fail or be lost; a cloud account can become inaccessible. Combining independent copies addresses different risks better than treating this as a USB-versus-cloud contest.
Compatibility: check the exact device first
The manufacturer’s system-requirements page lists Android 8.0+, iOS/iPadOS 13.0+, Windows 7 SP1+ and macOS 10.13+ for Omni. These are published compatibility claims, not a recommendation to keep using an operating system that no longer receives security support.
There is an important extra qualification: its Android setup guide says Google Pixel support starts at Pixel 8. Do not assume that meeting the Android version requirement alone means every phone works.
Check the connector and included adapter for your phone, tablet or computer, as well as the current app-store requirements. A connector that physically fits does not by itself establish software compatibility. Older sales pages can differ from current support guidance, so confirm an unusual device with the manufacturer before ordering.
The newer Omni X guide describes USB 3.0 hardware. That specification should not be copied onto every older Omni model or used as a measured backup-speed claim.

Setup and a backup you can actually trust
- Identify your model. Use the appropriate guide in the manufacturer support centre, not instructions for a visually similar older device.
- Install or launch the required software. Mobile use requires the companion app and relevant permissions. Desktop steps depend on the supported application and operating system.
- Connect the drive correctly. Follow prompts for selecting the storage location and approving access. Do not assume that plugging it in automatically completes a backup.
- Check what is available to copy. If originals exist only in cloud storage or another app’s protected space, resolve access and download requirements first.
- Run a small representative backup. Include photos and videos from the places that matter to you, then open the saved copies.
- Complete and verify the larger backup. Compare expected content with the result, open important files and keep a second independent copy.
The manufacturer’s iOS guide explicitly includes installing the app, accepting permissions, directing the drive and starting the backup. That is why “no setup required” is an unhelpful description.
My practical extra check is to verify access to the files again after disconnecting and reconnecting the drive. A success message is useful, but being able to open the actual saved file is the outcome you need. This is a recommended verification step, not a claim about a measured failure rate.
Capacity and file types
Use the size of your actual library to choose capacity. A marketing photo count depends on an assumed average file size; large videos, RAW files and high-resolution images change the calculation substantially. Leave room for growth rather than buying a drive that barely matches today’s total.
| Average file size | Approximate number of files |
|---|---|
| 2 MB | 50,000 |
| 5 MB | 20,000 |
| 10 MB | 10,000 |
| 100 MB | 1,000 |
These are arithmetic examples using decimal units, before filesystem overhead and other storage use; they are not measured usable capacities or manufacturer guarantees. The calculation is file-data capacity divided by average file size.
The manufacturer’s Omni listing names supported photo and video extensions, including JPEG, HEIC, PNG, MOV and MP4. Check your actual formats against the model’s list. Copying a file and having software that can display or edit it are separate requirements.
Duplicates, cloud files and deleted photos
Do not confuse skipping duplicate files during a backup with safely deleting originals from your phone. Review the application’s actual options. Files that look similar can be different edits or resolutions, and keeping only one copy without checking can discard something you wanted.
I would also avoid describing Omni as a deleted-photo recovery tool. Finding a supported file in an accessible folder is different from recovering data that has been deleted or overwritten. If recovery is the task, do not buy a backup drive solely on a promise to “find every lost photo”.
Cloud-only originals deserve a separate check. A thumbnail visible in your photo library is not proof that the full file is locally available for copying. Follow the source service’s download and export process where required, then verify the backup. Retain originals until you have checked independent copies.

How it fits my backup recommendation
I see Omni as a convenience purchase for someone who wants an approachable copying workflow. I would choose an ordinary external drive instead if I already had a reliable file-management routine and wanted more control over capacity and folder organisation.
For scanned family photographs, backup belongs after capture and quality checking. Our guide to digitizing old photos covers that wider process. More backup copies cannot restore detail that was never captured in the original scan.
The National Archives’ digitisation guidance recommends maintaining multiple copies, including one off-site. A single Omni drive in the same drawer as your laptop does not address fire, theft or failure affecting both. Keep the physical originals where possible too.
Price, returns and ownership costs
Compare the exact capacity, generation, adapters and delivered price. Prices vary by configuration, and a bundle’s crossed-out price does not by itself prove a saving. The ordinary copying function is marketed without a recurring storage subscription; optional products, services and checkout extras should still be reviewed.
The manufacturer’s return guidance states a 30-day window beginning on delivery and requires contacting its returns team for instructions. Its product terms say shipping, handling and taxes are not refundable. Check the terms for your actual seller and country, rather than assuming a 60-day unconditional trial.
For support, use the official support centre and provide the exact model, operating system and problem. Avoid reformatting a drive containing your only copy while troubleshooting.

My verdict
Buy ThePhotoStick Omni for a copying workflow that suits you, not for a promise that data loss becomes impossible. It makes the most sense if guided backup reduces the effort that has stopped you making local copies. It offers less extra value if you already use an external drive confidently.
Check the exact device and app requirements, choose capacity from your real library size and verify the saved files. Keep another independent copy. Those steps matter more than a headline number of photos or a claim of one-click simplicity.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Photo Stick Omni worth buying?
It can be worthwhile if its guided backup workflow suits you and your exact device is supported. I would compare it with a normal USB drive and keep an additional independent backup; convenience does not guarantee that every file has been copied.
What is the rating for the Photo Stick Omni?
My feature ratings assess the guided backup workflow, device compatibility, control over backups and value. Keep a second independent copy of important files.
Does PhotoStick Omni find duplicates?
The software can identify duplicates within its supported backup workflow. Do not interpret this as a promise to delete duplicates from your phone or free its storage automatically.
What is the best PhotoStick to buy?
The right model depends on your device, connector, app compatibility and the size of your library. Check the exact model, including whether the offer is for Omni or Omni X, rather than buying solely on a maximum-photo claim.
Does Photo Stick Omni work with both Android and iOS?
The manufacturer supports specified Android and iOS versions, but that does not mean every phone is supported. Its Android guide currently says Google Pixel support starts at Pixel 8; check the exact device before purchase.
Is the Photo Stick Omni a scam?
ThePhotoStick is a documented product with manufacturer support and setup instructions. That does not validate every reseller, marketing promise or review. Use a clearly identified seller and check compatibility and return terms.
How does PhotoStick Omni differ from a flash drive?
A normal flash drive provides storage. Omni adds a product-specific app or software workflow intended to simplify finding and copying supported media. Whether that convenience justifies the cost depends on your needs.
Where can I buy Photo Stick Omni in the UK?
Check the manufacturer’s current offer for UK delivery, final currency, tax, shipping and return arrangements. Do not assume a price or guarantee quoted for another country applies to your order.
Can PhotoStick Omni recover lost or hidden photos?
It is a backup tool, not a promise of deleted-file recovery. Files must be accessible to the supported software with the necessary permissions; cloud-only originals may need to be downloaded first.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
The manufacturer’s published policy describes a 30-day return period from delivery, subject to its conditions. Check the exact order terms; do not assume shipping charges or taxes are refundable.
Does it need an app?
Mobile use requires the companion app and permissions. Follow the current setup guide for your model and platform; plugging in the drive alone is not the whole backup process.
Does it delete duplicate photos from my phone?
Do not assume so. Skipping duplicates during copying is different from deleting source files. Review the actual settings and verify your independent backups before removing originals.
Can it replace all my other backups?
No. A single drive can fail, be lost or be damaged. Keep additional independent copies, including an off-site copy where practical.
How many photos will fit?
That depends on actual file sizes, the drive capacity, overhead and the amount of video or other data. Estimate from the size of your library rather than relying on a single marketing photo count.
Is Omni X the same as an older Omni?
No. The manufacturer identifies different generations and publishes a separate Omni X guide. Check the hardware and instructions for the version being sold.

I love this idea! I have been wanting to get a photo stick for a while now. I love that it is portable and easy to use.
Do you have a video for operation
We have added a video above for how to use the PhotoStick. Many thanks for your comment.
I purchased this a few months ago, have not used it. I am elderly and am not sure if it will work for me. I have several devices and all have pictures..I want to know if this can sort and combine from the devices, and how simple it I’d. I purchased this online and it is tmi for me. How can I get this usable?
I am unable to download
I bought this stick plugged it into my PC and it seems to have just downloaded the same pictures over and over and it says it deletes copies. Any chance you can give me step by step instructions on how to use on pc. I have not tried on my iPhone as I feel like it’s not working correctly.
Thanks so much
Don’t buy this photo Stick
It was defective, I returned it 6 weeks ago/ no refund!
I’m not sure if I should yay or nay this Honest Photo Stick Omni review. On one hand, it’s a really cool product that could help people take better photos. On the other hand, it’s a bit pricey and
Does it back up photos that are already in the cloud, and if so how is it done. Do you bring back from the cloud first and then back up?
Just ordered two of your devices one for myself one as a gift. I have bee burned sooooo many times, I sure hope this device will be as promised. Lost all of my photos to a fire and now hope I can retrieve some from my old laptop and from family. I will let you know if the $111.00 was not wasted, as I can not afford to waste anything.
So here is hoping…
I have a Photo Stick 2.0, can I just purchase the adapter so I can use it to transfer pictures from my iPhone? Any other suggestions?
Can I collect images from both my iPhone/iPad and Windows 10 computer onto this device? Can I then send photos back and forth between these devices?
